Coast-to-Coast Toast to Cheer on the Pittsburgh Steelers

PITTSBURGH – Minutes before Sunday’s AFC Championship game, fans across Steelers Nation will take part in a simultaneous toast to the Pittsburgh Steelers and to Pittsburgh in a united show of support and team spirit.
Sports bars, Black & Gold Brigades and fans throughout the country and around the world are being asked to participate in one of the largest simultaneous toasts on record.
The Greater Pittsburgh Convention & Visitors Bureau is supplying a “1-2-3 Guide for a Coast-to-Coast Steelers Toast” to bars, Steelers fan clubs and overseas military to encourage worldwide participation in the Steelers Toast. Everyone is invited to participate.
Here’s what Steelers fans across Steelers Nation are being asked to do on Sunday, January 22 at 2:50 p.m. EST “Eastern Steelers Time.”
- Identify Official Steelers Toastmaster (or fan with biggest mouth)
- At 2:50 p.m. EST on Sunday, January 22, all Steelers fans – identified by their Black & Gold attire – should stand up (no slouching!)
- Determine which way to face, with all eyes on the prize directed toward either Heinz Field in Blitzburgh or a Terrible Towel proudly displayed
- Adjust body positioning according to appropriate direction – but fans should be careful so as not to spill a drop of the beverage they’ll be holding!
- Toastmaster asks Steelers fans to raise their glasses into the air
- Fans listen to Steelers Toast and think about their beloved Pittsburgh team (see below)
- Steelers fans everywhere sip or swig
- Cheer and wave Terrible Towels wildly, (but not so wildly as to inflict injury on fellow fans!)
- Watch the Pittsburgh Steelers kick some butt
- Gloat all the way down that road to the Super Bowl!
